These world renowned rock formations are one of New Zealands major tourist attractions and are just 13km south of The Mill House.
We also recommend making the picturesque trip out to the Moeraki Lighthouse where seals, yellow-eyed penguins and other bird-life can be seen in their natural habitat.

A vibrant, living Victorian Precinct featuring New Zealand's best 19th Century streetscape and grand, white Oamaru limestone architecture.

Fleurs Place
Also at the quaint fishing port of Moeraki is one of New Zealands leading seafood restaurants, operated by chef Fleur Sullivan and specialising in local produce and Otago wines.

All Day Bay
This is one of the South Islands finest beaches, five kilometres of white sand, just 10 kilometres from The Mill House along the scenic coastal route. You can make a round trip via this route - if you take Beach Road from Oamaru, it will bring you back to Waianakarua, coming out on State Highway One at The Mill House.

Once a grand estate covering 15,000 acres, today an agricultural museum with restored farm buildings and displays paying tribute to the courage and determination of New Zealand's early agricultural pioneers, who began the countrys first frozen meat exports here in 1882.

Vanished World Trail
The Vanished World Heritage Trail reveals the ancient history of North Otago. Fossils, extinct volcanoes and mineral localities plus The Vanished World Centre at Duntroon offers fascinating insights into the fossil heritage of the Waitaki District through interpretive displays and exhibits that include world-class fossils of giant penguins, unique small dolphins and huge sharks.

Trotters Gorge
Beautiful limestone formations, walk way, domain and river, just south of The Mill House.

Shag Point
Great seaside viewing of seals, shags and various other bird life. Good fishing with a natural boat harbour.
